A gap on the shelf is not an unfinished drawing: it is a sale that doesn't happen.

The planogram says where each product goes on each shelf, and the colour identifies the product in the drawing, not the category: you recognise it at a glance from the other end of the aisle.

When restocking, an empty slot is not a picture: it is a product with its rotation, its margin and its stock, so you know what it costs to leave it empty.

What it does

The colour is the product
Each item has its colour in the drawing, recognisable without reading the label
An empty slot has a price
The facing comes from real stock, so a gap shows before the customer sees it
Shelf space follows margin
How much room each product takes is decided with its rotation and margin in view
